Dr. Stuart Fischbein
Stuart James Fischbein MD is a published author of the book Fearless Pregnancy: Wisdom & Reassurance from a Doctor, a Midwife and a Mom and several peer-reviewed papers, including Homebirth with an Obstetrician: A Series of 135 Out of Hospital Births, Breech Birth at Home: Outcomes of 60 Breech and 109 Cephalic Planned Home and Birth Center Births, and Twin Home Birth: Outcomes of 100 Sets of Twins in the Care of a Single Practitioner.
After spending 28 years attending hospital births, Dr. Stu spent the next 12+ years as a home birth obstetrician working collaboratively with midwives. Since recently retiring from attending home births, he has focused his work on traveling the world as a lecturer and advocate for reteaching breech and twin birth skills, honoring informed consent, and restoring respect for the normal physiology of birth.
He is the host of the weekly Birthing Instincts Podcast alongside co-host Blyss Young.
Blyss Young
Blyss Young, LM, CPM is a midwife, teacher, and mentor devoted to women’s wisdom across the thresholds of life. Her work is shaped by decades in midwifery, deep clinical experience, and profound personal loss. With years of experience supporting physiological birth, mentoring birthworkers, and walking with women through grief and transformation, Blyss brings depth, presence, and a deep rooted passion for sovereignty to her work.
Blyss is the founder of The Bridge Midwives, co-host of the Birthing Instincts podcast, and host of At Her Feet, where she centers conversation, lived experience, and traditional wisdom in modern maternity care. She currently serves her community in Ashland, Oregon as a traditional midwife.
